The pre- columbian period, origionally referred to as the period before Christoper Columbus, refers to the history of all the indigeous American cultures. This period lasted from approximately 14,000 B.P to 1492 CE and later as well. Many of the pre- columbian civilizations created hallmarks that included permanent urban settlements, agriculture, monumental architecture and complex social heirarchies. Although many of these civilizations had long faded since the time of the first European arrivals, most of these civilizations are known through archeological investigations and discovery. Also, through the use of archeologists the world today is able to see the work left behind from the pre- columbian era. The art is very delicate and fragile. It resembles alot of they're culture and famous traditions. You can stil find reminants of pre- columbian art in museums to this day.
